NEON NIGHTS
Back in the day neon nails were one of the hottest beauty trends, and like so many 80's trends they're back with a vengeance! So put away your black polish for now tap into your inner Punky Brewster with candy-coloured nails.

How to rock neon nail polish: (Source: ElleGirl.com)

Be prepared

Always push back your cuticles before applying a bright polish – any irregularities around the nail will show up when you paint. Apply cuticle oil or treatment around your nails and push them back with an orange stick.

Get shorty
Neon polish looks best on super short nails. Cut your nails down with clippers to about 1/4” beyond the edge of the nail.

Round it off
File your nails in one direction at a 45 degree angle and use a smooth emery board to round the edges—rounded nails won’t chip as quickly as squared off nails.

A solid foundation
Start with a clear base coat to prevent the color from staining your nails. Let it dry completely before applying the polish.

Start strong
To get the purest bright shade, prep your nails with a white basecoat. It will neutralize any pink in your nails and make the neon really pop.

Staying in control

When painting on the color, control the amount of polish you have on the brush so you don’t get clumps. Use wide strokes, fanning the brush across the nail—try to do the whole nail in three passes.

Be patient
Wait one minute after the first coat and then paint a second—for Day-Glo colors, you want the polish to be opaque, not sheer.

Seal the deal
Finish with a quick-drying top coat to seal in the color. Run the brush along the edge of your nail to seal the tip and prevent chips.

Touch it up
When you’re finished polishing, dip a cotton swab into nail polish remover and carefully clean up any smudges. Mistakes will show if you color outside of the lines at all!

Pair bright shades with white and black clothes to look like a chic sophisticate. Wear them with contrasting solid colors or prints that include the shades for a fun day look.

Beyonce Tired or Tremendous?

Why do people love to hate beyonce...

She’s gorgeous, talented, rich, successful, a female... need I go on. I have to admit that there's times when I have been so tired of Beyonce's music, tacky Momma Tina Knowles' outfits, her attempt to be 'high fashion', her disasterous house of Dereon clothing range..enough?

But honestly I have to admit - Beyonce is one amazing chick and even though you know how much I love Rihannas edge, in terms of performance and star presence, there's no ne else in the game right now that has anything on Beyonce...

I put up a resistance to buying her albums and end up gving in anyway (and loving most of it), so how come we hate?
Surely as females we should be able to just admire and respect her for what she's achieve - is it just plan jealousy? - What do you think...

Skinny Bitch - Looking back at the past!
My nickname growing up was 'Bones' I was the skinny one in my family (I come from a big family) and I loved it.

I loved the way that my collar bone stuck out and the way that I could manouvre my ribs! I do not advocate stick thin as I have always been curvy even when I was thinner. I have always had an hour glass figure, which is fine when you're thin as you'll resemble Scarlett Johansson or Kelly Brook however when you have an hour glass figure and are fat - you're more likely to resemble a fat (and still beautiful -now slim) Janet Jackson.

Size 12 is not fat ...who says so?
Now a US size 12 is a UK size 16. I tell everyone that I have ballooned from a size 12uk (8US) to a size 14uk (10US) but the truth is all sretch size 14 bottoms can fit but for straight trousers or slimline skirts I have to get a size 16(12US) because of these hips of mine- not cute...

Size 12US IS fat! I know, trust me. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar. I shall start posting pics of how I look in clothes as I think I've managed to disguise the fact that I have put on so much weight by wearing flared skirts (no trousers what so ever) with clinch belts as I (luckily) have a small waist - thank God for that! Therefore I can get away with buying tops in a smaller size and my bottom half is disguised - it looks like I'm purposely going for the 50's look!

I'll do a post on mastering excess weight some other time.

For others who like being fat -fine, for me I hate it, I'm sick of fad diets, thinspiration ideas, gym memberships that I don't use, my elliptical trainer that I don't use and today, I'm contemplating, where do I go from here...

Today is the day!

I had no desire to join the 185 million (and growing) bloggers on the internet just for the sake of being in step with everyone else (like a colleague at work who has just started her own blog). In contrast I decided to start this blog so that I could give my thoughts and words a place, a home. A 21st century diary is what I'm hoping my diary will be. It's crazy how we aren't able to share things with our nearest and dearest but we are happy to share them with hundreds of millions - with you who are reading this blog right now.

The blog is called pass me a mirror because I hate to look in the mirror as I don't like what stares back at me, it's not what I thought I'd be at 27. I hope that this blog will allow me to look into the mirror and accept or change with conviction what stares back.

so here goes...
